    This internship will provide students exposure to methods of sales and management in the retail automotive industry.  They will work with management to learn the front lines of a Big O Tires store, how to use the customer database system, payment processes, best practices in retail automotive customer service, and team management.  This internship will provide the opportunity for students to see how classroom knowledge applies on the job, and help develop their understanding of the business.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Consistently and courteously greet and thank each customer and provide fast and friendly customer service.
    • Learn to perform all necessary sales duties per company policy and procedure; including, but not limited to proper pricing, knowledge and implementation of promotions and sales, suggestive selling, proper vendor check in, and stocking merchandise.
    • Aid in maintaining customer service area and for hosting waiting customers.
    • Assist in consistent opening and closing of location based on store hours of operation.
    • Assist in the completion of any necessary reports including the tracking and monitoring of daily sales and gross profit as well as inventory level monitoring.
    • Assist with merchandising, advertising, and promotions to effectively market product.
    • Attend weekly store meetings to review safety issues, store policies, procedures, and product information changes as required.
    • Prepare necessary sales documentation such as warranties, service agreements, and the recording and registration of tire sales.
    • Conduct efficient and accurate sales transactions; notify supervisor of any sales, cash or operating discrepancies.
    • Must be able to have effective relationships with customers and store staff and can motivate employees to deliver positive customer experiences to the customers.
    • Maintain internal and external store appearance to comply with Big O Tires standards.
    • Adhere to all local, state and federal regulations concerning all facets of job responsibilities and duties, and store operations.
    • Know and adhere to company policies and procedures.
    • Follow posted work schedule, and adhere to proper clocking procedures to accurately reflect hours worked.
    • Maintain timely and professional communication with management, employees, and customers. Keep supervisor informed of any problems and/or any issues that need attention.
    • Participate in and contribute to MFA Oil’s formalized internship program.

    Job Requirements


    • High School diploma or equivalent required.
    • A current student or May graduate of current year required, preferably enrolled in an automotive program or have equivalent industry experience.
    • Must have computer knowledge and familiar with Microsoft Office products.
    • Excellent customer service, written, and verbal communication skills
    • Knowledge of good workflow principles.
    • Adapt to changes in the work environment; manage competing demands, and deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
    • A valid driver’s license
    • Must meet Company requirements, including successful background and MVR check, and drug test.
    • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language to communicate with customers, coworkers, and supervisors
