    The Senior Security Administrator acts as the ITS Department’s primary resource and lead for all security infrastructure, remediation and research. Security infrastructure includes all company-wide networks, systems, log monitoring, PC’s, tablets, laptops, servers and PC-based point of sale systems.  This role provides primary management, troubleshooting and implementation of new and existing information security systems and monitoring.


    Secondary functions include providing support to Network and System Administrators for all infrastructure needs including:  installation, configuration, data back-up requirements, support, data/network security, network performance, and troubleshooting.   Network communications systems include routers, switches, modems, cabling systems and topology, telephony systems and protocols, all circuits and all virtual networking infrastructure.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Provide project and team leadership for all security initiatives and administration.
    • Engineer, implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information.
    • Identify and define system security requirements.
    • Design system security architecture and develop detailed security designs.
    • Prepare and document standard operating procedures and protocols.
    • Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices.
    • Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks.
    • Work with security and compliance administrator to ensure the company knows as much as possible, as quickly as possible about any security-related incidents.
    • Write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes and propositions for further system security enhancement.
    • Research new security solutions and problems as necessary, assisting other teams by providing security consultative expertise on their projects.
    • Review and mitigate security risks, lead team to remediate security issues found during reviews, audits and maintenance.
    • Ensure that all systems are secured and that data integrity is maintained at all times.
    • Support all security aspects of all systems maintaining a schedule of after-hours emergency call availability.
    • Assist the Security and Compliance Administrator in interpreting and planning mitigation and remediation strategies related to PCI and EMV areas of concern.
    • Provide expertise in planning, managing and troubleshooting all types of network and systems with an eye to best practices and security.
    • Monitor all logging systems, maintain and administer security-related systems and network appliances.
    • Travel to remote sites or training as needed, including overnight, not to exceed 50% travel.
    • Provide mentoring and escalation support to other administrative teams and service-desk teams as appropriate.
    • Know and adhere to company policies and procedures.
    • Follow posted work schedule, and adhere to proper procedures to accurately reflect hours worked.
    • Maintain timely and professional communication with management, employees, vendors and customers. Keep supervisor informed of any problems and/or any issues that need attention.

    Job Requirements


    • Minimum four years college or equivalent experience required, with a preference for an Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable discipline.
    • A combination of education/certifications and experience roughly equaling four or more years in Information Technology with at least two years of experience/education in the security administration primary discipline.
    • Proven working experience in building and maintaining security systems.
    • Detailed technical knowledge of network monitoring tools, Microsoft servers, network, database and operating system security.
    • Hands on experience in security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc.
    • Thorough understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols.
    • Familiarity with web related technologies (Web applications, Web Services, Service Oriented Architectures) and of network/web related protocols.
    • CISA, CISSP, Security+ or other security-related certifications or the knowledge a plus.
    • Great customer service skills and attitude, patience with others, a track record in developing good working relationships, but persistent in the pursuit of the goals/objectives.
    • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
    • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
    • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language to communicate with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
