The application developer will perform duties relating to business requirements and analysis, developing specifications, programming, testing, debugging, systems testing, and implementation for internal and external customers.  This is a position that is involved with end-to-end systems development, implementation and support. This position also necessitates interaction with a wide variety of resources, including ITS personnel, user department personnel, field personnel, management personnel, and possibly extensive contact and interaction with technology vendors.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of multiple platform screen design and structure and be able to produce intuitive solutions for all customers.
  • Ability to design applications for internal personnel to support and streamline business practices as well as design and support applications for external customers to interact with the business.
  • Defines application enhancements, including baseline functionality and system enhancements to augment business functions.
  • Develop and maintain application roadmaps which clearly define upgrades, release support/maintenance, release retirement.
  • Understanding and proficiency with mobile application toolsets such as DSI, and Oracle / JD Edwards EnterpriseOne.
  • Standardize the platform to deliver solutions across internal departments and lines of business with minimal duplication of effort.
  • Review and optimize overall performance for apps.
  • Stay current on the latest industry trends in mobile application development technologies.
  • Ability to explain and communicate technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Serves as a technology advocate and IT representative to gather business requirements from stakeholders to design, develop and modify applications.
  • Develops and documents application coding and naming standards.
  • Prepares training material for all application end users.
  • Troubleshoots data, system, server issues that may arise.
  • Create or update technical and business documentation.
  • Mentor other developers learning our application toolsets.
  • Control your own projects and meet deadlines.
  • Maximizes personal professional development to ensure continuation of a personal contribution to the team and MFA Oil Company.
  • Know and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Follow posted work schedule, and adhere to proper procedures to accurately reflect hours worked.
  • Maintain timely and professional communication with management, employees, vendors and customers. Keep supervisor informed of any problems and/or any issues that need attention.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences/Information Technologies or related field, or a high school diploma and 2 years of application development experience in a business environment.
  • Experience and in-depth understanding of Objective C and Java with iOS and Android SDKs/Frameworks a plus
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule with possible on call responsibilities.
  • Understanding of Objective C and Java with iOS and Android SDKs/Frameworks.
  • Knowledge of or a willingness to learn DSI application development toolset.
  • Some experience with web service integration (SOAP, REST, JSON, XML)
  • Good understanding of Object-Oriented design patterns.
  • Ability to work effectively in standard code editors as well as coding toolsets to develop applications.
  • Understand or be willing to learn JD Edwards EnterpriseOne database structures.
  • Fully understand version control, promotion to market, promotion environments and system development life cycle.
  • Customer service skills and attitude, patience with others, a track record in developing good working relationships, but persistent in the pursuit of the goals/objectives.
  • Ability to work varied hours when needed, travel as required.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Must meet Company requirements, including successful background and MVR check, and drug test.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language to communicate with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
