The Tax and Banking intern will work with Director of Cash Management and Taxes and Indirect Tax Manager to reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, work on monthly tax returns, research new regulations, learn different aspects of tax work, and research outstanding bank issues for MFA Oil Company.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Reconcile bank accounts in company’s different systems.
  • Reconcile sales/road tax general ledger accounts.
  • Research outstanding bank issues.
  • Work on sales and road tax returns for monthly filings.
  • Research new legislation and rules regarding taxation regulations.
  • Learn about indirect and transactional taxes.
  • Know and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Follow posted work schedule, and adhere to proper clocking procedures to accurately reflect hours worked.
  • Maintain timely and professional communication with management, employees, and customers. Keep supervisor informed of any problems and/or any issues that need attention.
  • Participate in and contribute to MFA Oil’s formalized internship program.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • A current student or May graduate of current year, majoring in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Goal orientated with strong attention to detail.
  • Must be an analytical thinker.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language to communicate with customers, coworkers, and supervisors
