The Marketing and Communications Intern will be responsible for contributing to the development of compelling communications that effectively position MFA Oil Company and its brands with its employees, farmer-owners, customers and other external stakeholders. This person will have the ability to produce clear, concise and persuasive writing for a variety of communication vehicles such as magazines, newsletters, brochures, websites and social media.

Responsibilities

  • Write marketing copy for print and online needs, including but not limited to press releases, web content, success stories, newsletters, brochures, emails, direct marketing pieces, advertising, video scripts and other collateral.
  • Assist with editing and proofing other written communications.
  • Research and interviewing subjects for stories
  • Know and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Follow posted work schedule, and adhere to proper clocking procedures to accurately reflect hours worked.
  • Maintain timely and professional communication with management, employees, and customers. Keep supervisor informed of any problems and/or any issues that need attention.
  • Participate in and contribute to MFA Oil’s formalized internship program.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A current student or May graduate of current year, majoring in Agricultural Journalism, Journalism, Marketing, Communications or a related field.
  • Initiative to independently perform assigned tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite to include Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to articulate thoughts and ideas and effectively communicate ideas in writing.
  • Strong writing and editing skills (understanding of AP Style a plus).
  • Photography and photo editing experience is a plus. Knowledge of good workflow principles.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language to communicate with customers, coworkers, and supervisors
